Canes Basketball in Pictures: Canes come out strong, but fall in first round of state playoffs
The Lady Canes and Varsity Canes lost against River Mill Academy and Warren County, respectively, in back-to-back games on Tuesday night, but both teams put up a fight and made a strong showing for a large and supportive hometown crowd.
Tuesday night’s games were the first round of the state playoffs, and Cape Hatteras Secondary School (CHSS) had a banner year for basketball across the board, as the JV, Lady Canes, and Varsity Canes basketball teams all claimed the Conference Championship title,
The Cape Hatteras Lady Canes varsity basketball team lost Tuesday’s home playoff game against River Mill Academy (Graham, N.C.) by a score of 53-45. The game was part of the 2020 Women’s Basketball Championships – 1A tournament, and was the first round of the state playoffs.
The Cape Hatteras Boys varsity basketball team lost Tuesday’s home playoff game against Warren County (Warrenton, N.C.) by a score of 40-36. This game was part of the 2020 Men’s Basketball Championships – 1A tournament, and was also the first round of the state playoffs.
