Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Awards Three Scholarships in 2020

Cape Hatteras Anglers Club selected three outstanding seniors who attend the Cape Hatteras Secondary School for scholarship awards. The total amount of scholarships awarded in 2020 totals $7,000.

The Anglers Club selected John Contestable of Salvo to receive its $4,000 scholarship to a four-year school.  John plans to attend The University of North Carolina Wilmington, his major has not yet been determined.

Zachary Huizing

Receiving a $1,000 one-year scholarship to a two-year school is Zachary Huizing of Buxton.  Zachary plans to attend College of the Albemarle at the Dare Campus to earn his associates in Science.

Receiving a $2,000 scholarship to a four-year school is Dylan Gray of Hatteras.  Dylan plans to attend either The University of North Carolina Wilmington and major in Biology, or will attend North Carolina State and major in Wildlife Biology.

We know that Cape Hatteras will be proud of you!  Anglers Club members work year-round to raise money to award the scholarships.  Among the fund-raising events are the club’s annual invitational surf fishing tournament each November that is billed as one of the large

st in the world, and Wednesday Bingo nights at the club.  Since the scholarship program began in 1989, the club has awarded more than $154,000 in scholarships to local high school seniors.
