Dare Board of Education planning special meeting to discuss return to classrooms
The Dare County Board of Education plans to call a special meeting later this month after county school staff receive second COVID-19 vaccines at a Feb. 13 clinic.
In an email to parents and guardians, Dare County school leadership said officials are also working on addressing summer school classes.
Meanwhile, Gov. Roy Cooper is holding a press conference this afternoon where he is expected to push for North Carolina school districts to return to in-person learning, according to WRAL.
Parents have been asked to fill out another survey stating their preferences for in-person, hybrid or virtual learning for the remainder of the school year.
The survey also asks parents to weigh in on summer learning programs for K-12 students, all of which would be optional and free of charge.
For elementary and middle school, the summer opportunities could provide a mix of academic intervention and enrichment (physical activity, art, music, and field trips).
For high school, the option would likely be a two-week credit recovery program in June.
