Hyde County Continues to Maintain Vaccine Waiting List for Residents 65 and Up

Per a recent update on February 5, the Hyde County Health Department is continuing to collect appointment requests for the COVID-19 vaccination for residents who are at least 65 years of age.

Vaccines are available on the mainland as well as at the Ocracoke Health Center, however, due to the small number of doses allocated from the state, a waiting list has been established.

Ocracoke Island residents can contact the Ocracoke Health Center at 252-489-3622 to schedule their appointment, and the full update from the Hyde County Health Department is posted below.

The Health Department continues to vaccinate individuals who are 65 years of age and older.  This remains the priority group as determined by Federal and North Carolina Public Health Advisory Committees. However, due to the small number of doses that are allocated, they are unable to vaccinate everyone in the 65 and older category.  You are encouraged to continue to call 252-926-4467 for appointments, and your name will be placed on a waiting list.  As appointment slots open up and/or we are provided more vaccine, you will be called for an appointment. 

Ocracoke residents can also get vaccinated at the Health Department, however, the Ocracoke Health Center is also receiving vaccines and scheduling appointments for anyone 65 and older. You can call 252-489-3622 to schedule an appointment with them.
