July 17, 1958 – April 21, 2021
KILL DEVIL HILLS — Bonni Henderson transitioned to her next adventure on April 21, 2021.
A juxtaposition of eternal pragmatist and creative soul, Bonni left a loving imprint on lives of all she came into contact with.
Bonni was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina on July 17, 1958, to Helen Forbes Jennings Midgett and the late James Preston Jennings. She was the granddaughter of the late Helen and Willie Forbes of Shiloh, NC and Elizabeth and James Jennings of Norfolk, VA.
Bonni was one of the lucky few to spend her forever with the love of her life, Dale Henderson. Married for over 35 years, Bonni and Dale laughed, loved, and survived on their humorous banter and respect for one another.
Bonni recently retired from Atlantic Realty after many years of service. She was blessed to have worked alongside such wonderful people and loved her coworkers like family.
In addition to her loving husband, Dale and devoted mother, Helen, Bonni is survived by her son, Robert Lee Forbes (Michelle) of Houston, Texas; her grandchildren, Jacob, Ally, Zach, Cash, Dean, Garret, and Jackson; sisters, Cindi Marshall, Susan Pealo, Sally Lacovelli (Jeff), Joan Peak, and Katy Prince (Tommy); two great aunts, Marguerite Forbes of Elizabeth City, NC and Dorothy Lee Kight of Riddle, NC; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of Bonni’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the Kitty Hawk Pier. A reception will follow at Atlantic Realty in Kitty Hawk.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Outer Banks SPCA in Bonni’s memory. The SPCA can be reached at obxspca.org or 252-475-5620.
We will forever miss her wit and grace but find comfort in her peace.
Twiford Funeral Homes, Outer Banks is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.TwifordFH.com.
