March 27, 1961 – August 10, 2021
KITTY HAWK — Roberta J. Deitch, 60, of Kitty Hawk, NC, left our world on August 10, 2021, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Bobbie, as she was known lovingly to her family and friends, was born on March 27, 1961, in Williamsport, PA to John R. Deitch and Joyce Palmatier (Whitman). Bobbie was raised in Williamsport and moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in the early ’90s with the love of her life, Karl S. Yealy. Settling in OBX as their permanent home, she worked in the restaurant industry for many years, building close relationships with an entertaining crew throughout Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, and Kill Devil Hills. She enjoyed traveling (especially to the Caribbean), music, reading, surf fishing, and cooking, as well as her love and nurturing of exotic birds. She is loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Bobbie is survived by her mother, Joyce Palmatier of Anaheim, CA; her sisters Kimberly Deitch (Frank Lazo) of Anaheim, CA; Denise Carpenter (Peter) of Portsmouth, NH and many close Deitch, Bausinger, and Whitman relatives throughout the eastern seaboard. She is predeceased by her father John R. Deitch, her brother John Deitch, her lifelong companion, Karl S. Yealy, and their birds, Pepper, Salty Dog, and Sweetie.
In honor of Bobbie, please consider a donation to Cape Fear Parrot Sanctuary, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, care, and homing of all birds within the Parrot family. (https://capefearparrotsanctuary.org/home, 910-471-2186)
