ROANOKE ISLAND — Elizabeth Cheryl Glover of Roanoke Island, NC passed on from this life to eternal joy in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, March 11, 2022. Born in 1945, Cheryl grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Springfield and Columbus, OH, the eldest of eight siblings. She was married to Michael Jaycox for 13 years. They had two children: Rebecca Rector (Lowell) and Christopher Jaycox (deceased).
Cheryl graduated from the Columbus College of Art & Design. She married Jefferson Glover in 1978 and enjoyed a long and joy-filled marriage with him. They have one child together: Joshua Glover. Cheryl was very involved in prayer ministry and other lay ministries with the Catholic church in Ohio.
In 1996, Cheryl moved to Roanoke Island, NC. She taught art classes at the College of the Albemarle for six years and exhibited art in local shows. Cheryl also worked as a front desk clerk for the Elizabethan Inn and Tranquil House. She and Jefferson attended Haven Creek Missionary Baptist Church since 2000. Cheryl was a peer counselor for Creative Choices Crisis Pregnancy Center and an officer in Aglow International, Manteo. In 2004, she and Jefferson began Hosea House: A Christian Recovery Home for Women. Cheryl was ordained a minister in 2006. She also ministered to women in the Dare County Detention Center.
Cheryl’s passion was for Jesus Christ, ministerial counseling, her marriage and children, and the many dear friendships over the years.
A memorial service will take place at Haven Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Manteo, NC at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, March 19, 2022.
