Update: Large Item Pickup for Unincorporated Areas of Dare County is Ongoing
Large item pickup for unincorporated Dare County is still underway. The Dare County Public Works Department initially requested that residents in all unincorporated areas within Dare County place their items at the curbside by Monday, April 4, 2022, to ensure that no one missed the collection. This did not mean that all areas would have their items collected on that particular day. April 4, 2022, was the start date for large item pickup in unincorporated Dare County, and due to this year’s pickup being a strict one-pass only, Dare County Public Works did not want anyone to delay placing their items at the curbside and miss when the crews went by their area.
As of April 6, 2022, the large item pickup contractor has completed:
- Buxton
- Frisco
- Hatteras Village
Avon will be completed by the end of the day today (Wednesday, April 6, 2022). Once large item pickup for all of Hatteras Island has been completed, the crews will be disbursed to multiple locations. Therefore, it will be even more important that your items are currently out for collection, as there is no way to predict how quickly these crews may be able to complete one area before moving onto the next.
Remaining areas include:
- Salvo
- Waves
- Rodanthe
- Roanoke Island (unincorporated areas only)
- Manns Harbor
- Stumpy Point
- East Lake
- Colington
- Martin’s Point
Please do not be alarmed if you have not seen a crew as of yet, as they will be coming by soon.
