Oregon Inlet & Hatteras Inlet Dredging Updates as of April 7

Oregon Inlet Dredging Update: From Thursday, March 17, 2022, through Friday, April 1, 2022, the Merritt—a sidecaster dredge operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers—dredged the area on the west side of the Marc Basnight Bridge to reduce shoaling in Oregon Inlet.

Hatteras Inlet Dredging Update: On Sunday, April 2, 2022, the Merritt began dredging the South Ferry Channel to reduce the shoaling that has occurred within Hatteras Inlet.

Dare County obtained a permit modification and the Merritt is expected to dredge this channel through Thursday, April 21, 2022.*
