Thanksgiving on the Islands: What’s Open for Turkey Day

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and ‘tis the season to run around like mad on Wednesday and Thursday to pick up the countless items that you somehow forgot for the big turkey dinner.  

But if you’re sticking close to home on Thanksgiving, then you’re in luck!

There are a number of Hatteras and Ocracoke island grocery stores that will be open with all the last minute fixings you need, (like wine), as well as several restaurants offering Thanksgiving dinners for those who would prefer to concentrate on football instead of cooking.

Here’s a sample of where to go for last minute Thanksgiving-prep shopping, or where to eat if you would rather let someone else tackle the turkey.

Keep in mind that in addition to these spots that will still be rocking on Thanksgiving, there are plenty of stores, restaurants, and gift shops that might be closed on Thursday, but will be open all Thanksgiving week long. (Island-style Black Friday shopping, anyone?)
