Current TV, in partnership with Dare County, has released a new video as part of its Destination Dare series that highlights the upcoming renovation and improvement projects that three of Dare County’s EMS facilities will begin to undergo within the next few months.
Dare County EMS operates out of eight stations, which are located in Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Southern Shores, Frisco, Rodanthe, Manns Harbor and Manteo, as well as the MedFlight helicopter hangar at the Dare County Airport.
Due to the age of these facilities—as well as the increased demand for emergency services that has occurred in Dare County over the past several decades as the area has experienced an influx in both residents and visitors—county officials have made the renovation and modernization of these Dare County EMS stations a top priority.
These much-needed projects are scheduled to be completed in multiple phases over the next several years, the first of which includes the construction of three new EMS facilities:
- Station 1 in Kill Devil Hills
- Station 4 in Southern Shores
- Station 7 – Dare MedFlight Hangar on Roanoke Island
In addition to the construction of these new facilities, several other EMS stations throughout Dare County will also undergo a series of renovations over the course of the next few years, including:
- Station 2 in Manteo
- Station 3 in Frisco
- Station 8 in Manns Harbor
The goal of these upcoming projects is to assist in further improving Dare County EMS’s response to the influx of emergency calls that are received on a daily basis, as well as to better support the department in its ongoing efforts to meet the needs of the community.
