Dare Arts is delighted to announce a special open call for Dare County residents to serve on their Board of Directors.
In recent years, Dare Arts has made a sincere commitment to embracing diversity across the organization, and this open call for Board Members is an extension of that effort.
“Joining the Board now is an opportunity to take part in an exciting time at Dare Arts,” said Dare Arts President Richard Phillips. “Our 50th anniversary is in 2025, and big plans are already in the works for this special milestone. As our planning for 2025 continues, we want to open our board recruitment to people outside of our network. We know that diversifying our leadership team will help Dare Arts continue to grow and thrive.”
Dare Arts is seeking people who value the importance of Arts within the Outer Banks community, and who will contribute to the organization’s overall mission, which is to encourage the arts in Dare County through advocacy, enrichment, and opportunity. While not required, having experience or a background in leadership, arts education, grant writing, community events, or facility maintenance and upkeep is a plus.
Board Members of Dare Arts are expected to commit time, talent, and resources to help fulfill the organization’s mission. They are responsible for setting policy, planning, and helping with fundraising. The Board of Directors meets six times a year, including quarterly meetings, an offsite planning retreat in February, and an Annual Meeting in May. Board
members are eligible for two consecutive three-year terms.
“If you have ever thought about becoming more involved with the Arts in our community, this is your chance to throw your hat in the ring,” said Dare Arts Executive Director Jessica Sands. “We are hoping to bring on engaged Board members who can provide fresh, new perspectives to our team!”
Those interested in serving on Dare Arts’ Board of Directors, should fill out the Google Form online at DareArts.org/ourteam. The deadline is Friday, April 7. Each response will be reviewed by Dare Arts’ nominating committee and then recommendations will be made to Dare Arts’ Board of Directors in early May.
