Avon VFD Chief Shawn Gray steps down after 36 years; Frank Hopkins named as new Avon Fire Chief
After serving as Fire Chief of the Avon Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) for 36 years, Shawn Gray has stepped down from the position. Assistant Chief Frank Hopkins will take over as the new Fire Chief of the Avon Volunteer Fire Department.
Chief Gray took over the position in April 1987 and has served continuously as Chief since then. His experience and community service will not be lost as he will transition to the position of President of the Avon Volunteer Fire Department.
Chief Hopkins is a 26-year member of the Avon VFD and has held several officer ranks in the department, most recently serving as Assistant Chief for the last several years.
Andrew Dickerson has been promoted to the Assistant Chief rank and has been a member of the Avon department for 10 years, most recently as Lieutenant.
