Heat Advisory continues on Monday
Dangerous heat index values will continue on Monday and Tuesday due to a combination of very warm temperatures and high humidity, per an update from the National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City office.
Minimum heat indices of 100 degrees are expected through Tuesday, with a heat index of up to 105 forecasted for Monday on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands. A Heat Advisory is in effect on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The intense heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Information on the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke are listed below.
