Robert W. Nappi, age 55, died peacefully on Friday, September 22, 2023 at home surrounded by family and friends following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob was born on April 4, 1968 in Schenectady, NY to Diane and the late Carl Nappi. Bob was a 1986 graduate of Niskayuna High School, in Schenectady, NY.
Bob and his wife Katie, found their “happy place” in Kill Devil Hills when they moved to the Outer Banks in 2019, where Bob worked as a construction supervisor. Bob was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He loved walks along the beach, searching for shells and cleaning up the garbage on the beaches of the Outer Banks. He was extremely proud of his shell collection that decorates almost every room of their home. He loved to show off his record breaking deer head from his hunting days in Upstate NY.
If you knew Bob, you knew his quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor. He would give the shirt off his back for anyone he cared about and his selflessness had no limits. He was a wonderful cook and enjoyed entertaining friends at their home. His larger than life personality meant that he never met a stranger! If you just needed a story, he had loads of them to share, although some may have been “fish tales.” Bob’s love for his wife Katie was clearly known as they were commonly known as “KatieBob”, everywhere they went.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Katie and their rescue dogs Harley and Bruno; his mother Diane, his daughters Jessica (Chip) MacLasco, Alyssa Nappi (Matt Harmych) and son Bobby Nappi; adored grandchildren, Rylee and Quinn; his siblings Michele (Joel) Saffer, John (Amy) Nappi and Christopher (Heather) Nappi; his nieces and nephews who he loved dearly, Gabby and Sean Saffer; Emily, Sarah, Cole, and Chase Nappi, and Addison, Hayden and Peyton Nappi. Bob is predeceased by his father Carl Nappi.
Relatives and friends are invited to Bob’s Celebration of Life which will be held at Chili Peppers Restaurant in Kill Devil Hills Sunday October 1, 2023 from 4 pm to 7 pm. His life will also be honored back home in upstate New York Saturday October 14, 2023 from 3 pm to 7 pm as the Alplaus Volunteer Firehouse at 309 Alplaus Avenue in Alplaus, NY 12008.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family can make donations directly to the family in Bob’s honor to help offset all expenses from his long battle with pancreatic cancer.
