AVON–John R. Henley, a resident of Avon, North Carolina died peacefully onMarch 27, 2018, after battling a long-term illness. John was bornin Boston, MA February 15, 1965. He was the son of the lateRobert and Joan (Fitzgerald) Henley.
Prior to his moving toNorth Carolina, John was a long-time resident of Colchester,Connecticut. John worked as a systems analyst for variousinsurance companies in Connecticut for his career. He loved morehis time away from work, especially when on one of his boats orenjoying the many dogs he owned over the years. John held apassion for the environment, as evidenced by his being a foundingmember of the Colchester Land Trust. He was also a giftedphotographer. Throughout the years he produced a collection ofphotographs that capture the beauty of the outdoors, with images fromthe woods of New England, the Cape, and the Outer Banks of NorthCarolina. An avid storyteller he was always in search of anaudience and possessed a lengthy repertoire of corny jokes.
Most of all, John lovedhis children and was so very proud of each of them. He alwayslooked forward to time spent with his children and would plan theirdays together fishing, boating, and working with tools.
John leaves his threechildren: Connor, Brenna, and Quintin, all of Colchester. Johnalso leaves his former wife, Amy, of Colchester, his siblings: Karen Lidman of Barrington, RI, Anne Cain of Lafayette, CA, and JoeHenley of Longmeadow, MA.
It was John’s wish tonot have any service or memorial, but the family requests you join themin remembering John in the in the fondest of ways.
