NAGS HEAD — Jeffrey Regan Thornton, born on August 20, 1947, in Accomack County, VA, peacefully passed away on February 2, 2024, in Nags Head, NC. He was 76 years old.
Jeff dedicated nearly 50 years of his life as a technician for United CoolAir Corporation in York, PA. His commitment and hard work were evident throughout his long and successful career, earning him the respect of his colleagues and superiors.
Outside of work, Jeff had a variety of interests that brought him joy and fulfillment. He had a keen eye for finding a good deal and loved tractors, finding delight in their power and functionality. He loved to hear a good story and enjoyed sitting in the woods, taking in the tranquility of nature or simply spending time gently swaying on a swing. Additionally, Jeff was an avid antique and coin collector, always seeking out unique pieces to add to his treasured collection.
Above all else, Jeff cherished his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He found immense joy in their presence and treasured the time spent together, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. On any given day, Jeff could be seen with his faithful companion Milo, bringing each other great comfort.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Stoner Thornton and Emory Daniel Thornton, as well as his son, Jeffrey Regan Thornton Jr.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Anne Stockdale Thornton, his son Todd Matthew Thornton and wife Natalie, and his two cherished grandchildren, Rose Elizabeth Thornton and Benjamin Reese Thornton.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Jeff’s life will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather and pay tribute to his memory.
