Betty “Jean’ House, age 90, formerly of Raleigh, NC passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in the care of Transitions Lifecare in Raliegh, NC. Jean was born August 23, 1933, to Robert and Lena Massengill. She was raised in Johnston County, NC where she attended Four Oaks high school. Jean then attended Atlantic Christian College and worked with the James B. Green #735 Masonic Lodge for over 30 years.
Jean was married for 67 years to her soul mate, Ed, who preceded her in death. Jean’s talents were many, but most of all she was kind and charitable. She was a long-time faithful member of Collington United Methodist Church, and a true Christian. Jean was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, community volunteer and friend who appreciated spending time with those she loved.
She was known for her beautiful smile and kind heart. She was the heart and soul of our family and will be dearly missed.
Jean is survived by daughters, Donna and Allison; sons-in-law, Bill and Todd; son, Jerry; daughter-in-law, Leatha; granddaughters, Beth, Laura and Karen; six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and sister-in-law, Dora.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Colington United Methodist Church, 1949 Colington Rd, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948, with Pastor Jack Colenda, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the service at the family home. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
