UPDATE: Man charged with felonies, misdemeanor after discharging firearm in Rodanthe
38-year-old Kyle Andrew Lowery of Greenwood, IN, was charged with two Felony counts of discharge firearm within enclosure to incite fear, and a Misdemeanor resist, delay, or obstruct a public officer after a Monday afternoon incident at the Cape Hatteras KOA Campground in Rodanthe.
At 12:30 pm. on Monday, June 17, the Dare County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 20000 block of N.C. Highway 12 in Rodanthe for a shots fired call. The subject, Lowery, had locked himself inside a camper and a gunshot hole was found on the back of the camper.
Per the police report, numerous attempts were made to make contact with the subject. After no contact was able to be made, pepper spray was deployed, and Lowery exited. He was taken into custody without incident, and no injuries were reported.
The National Park Service and the NC Highway Patrol also assisted in the call. Lowery is being held at the Dare County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center in lieu of a $65,000 bond.
