UPDATE: Outer Banks Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan meeting postponed due to inclement weather
Dare County has announced that the public meeting that was scheduled to be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, at the Avon Volunteer Fire Department for members of the community to provide input on the Outer Banks Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan has been postponed due to potentially hazardous weather impacts from Tropical Storm Debby.
In addition, a second public meeting that was to be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Corolla Public Library in Currituck County to provide feedback on the plan has also been postponed.
The new dates and times for these two public meetings will be announced once potential impacts from the storm have passed and the meetings have been rescheduled.
Members of the community are still invited to take a short survey that provides an opportunity to share their opinions and participate in the mitigation planning process. The information provided will help those involved in the Outer Banks Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan update to better understand local hazards, risks, and problems and can lead to mitigation activities that help lessen the impacts of future hazards.
