Power outage scheduled for Tuesday night on Hatteras Island

The Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative (CHEC) will require a four-hour planned power outage for Avon on Tuesday, September 10, in order to make important upgrades in the Avon substation.

Crews will be working on several important tasks, including replacing current transformers and installing new switches.

The power outage scheduled for Avon on Tuesday will occur from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. on Wednesday. The rest of Hatteras Island will experience a 5-minute outage at 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.
