Avon Volunteer Fire Department helps fellow Outer Banks VFD with utility truck donation
The Avon Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) recently helped its Outer Banks neighbors to the north by donating its 2003 F350 utility truck to the Stumpy Point Volunteer Fire Department.
Stumpy Point volunteers will be putting the donated truck in service as a brush/utility fire truck, replacing their existing 1986 brush unit.
Avon VFD replaced its utility truck earlier this year with a 2023 F350. Utility trucks are multifunctional vehicles that play a key role in every fire department.
In 2023, the Avon VFD also added a 2001 reconditioned former military FMTV five-ton truck to its fleet of vehicles, (also known as Storm 46), which is a special service truck that assists the VFD in navigating flooded streets during emergencies.
