NAGS HEAD — Paul Rosario De La Cruz, Jr. passed peacefully at home with loved ones by his side on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Paul was a Veteran of the United States Army and very proud of his time served. After completing his time in the military, he graduated from East Carolina College where he was a founding member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity for that campus. From college he went into very successful careers in the factory industry that consisted of 17 years at St. Joe’s Paper Company and 22 years at Old Dominion Peanut Co. Paul finished his working career with his beloved Dollar Tree family. Paul remained independent until the very end of his life and took pride in his ability to work. When he wasn’t working, he was rooting on his favorite football team the Washington Redskins. He lived a long, meaningful life. One that was filled with pride in his family. His “dad jokes” and sense of humor will be missed.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Marie Byrd De La Cruz and father, Paul Rosario De La Cruz, Sr. He is survived by his three children; Paul De La Cruz III and wife Sophy Joyner, Stephen De La Cruz and husband Christopher Clark, and daughter Dawn Childress and husband Todd Childress. He will also be leaving behind his four grandchildren; Taylor Glenn and husband Jared Glenn, Gavin Childress, Anna De La Cruz, and Taylor Garrenton and two great-grandchildren; Iris and Mabel, as well as close family friends; Myna Bashford and Johnny Majette.
The family will be celebrating his life in private and ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to the OBX American Legion Post 26 (PO Box 1683, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948).
