Avon VFD is bringing back Community Dinner tradition on December 18
The Avon Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) is hosting a community dinner on Wednesday, December 18, at 6:00 p.m. at the Avon Fire Station on Harbor Road.
The seasonal community dinner is an old tradition for the Avon Fire Department that has been dormant for quite a few years, according to Chief Frank Hopkins. However, the Avon VFD is hoping to revive the community dinners on a more regular basis, and potentially four times a year.
“We’ve kind of lost touch with the dinners, but we’re bringing them back,” said Hopkins. “And we’re going to try to do these more often next year, too.”
Wednesday’s dinner will feature spaghetti, sides, drinks, and desserts, and is open to everyone in the local Avon community and beyond. There is no cost to attend, and the dinner will be held from 6:00 p.m. until roughly 8:00 p.m.
“It’s the first time we’ve done a [Christmas] dinner in years,” said Hopkins. “Everyone is welcome to attend, and we hope they do.”
