Day at the Docks celebration is topic of radio show
The annual Day at the Docks celebration in Hatteras village was the topic of the Radio Hatteras interview show, “To the Point,” on Sunday, Sept. 6.
The guest for the interview was Jon Kelmer, who is the chairman of the Day at the Docks Committee of the Hatteras Village Civic Association.
Day at the Docks is one of Hatteras Island’s premier annual events. It’s a three-day celebration of the island’s watermen that this year will begin on Thursday, Sept. 17, and conclude with a full day of events on the village waterfront on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Now in its 10th year, Day at the Docks has become a true celebration of the Hatteras Island way of life.
“To the Point,” which is hosted by Island Free Press editor Irene Nolan, airs on the island’s community radio station, FM 101.5 and FM 99.9, at 5 p.m. on the first and third Sunday of each month. It is repeated on the second and fourth Sunday. Those who don’t live on Hatteras can listen to the show on Sundays through live streaming at www.radiohatteras.org.
