Dare Board of Commissioners sets special meeting
The Dare County Board of Commissioners has set a special meeting for Thursday, Nov. 12, at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room in the Dare County Administration Building in Manteo.
The stated purpose of the meeting is to receive a legislative update from McGuireWoods Consulting and to discuss legislative issues.
McGuireWoods is a Raleigh-based firm that the board agreed to hire last winter to do lobbying work for Dare County during the General Assembly. At the time, the commissioners were gearing up to fight a Senate proposal to change the way that sales tax revenues are distributed to the county.
The sales tax redistribution plan was never approved, but many expect it to resurface when the legislature reconvenes next year.
A live audio of the special board meeting will be available on the county website, www.darenc.com.
