Candidates seeking election for the March 3, 2020 Dare County Primary Election may file for office beginning Monday, December 2 at 12:00 p.m. through Friday, December 20 at 12:00 p.m. Candidates must submit required paperwork (Notice of Candidacy) along with the filing fee by the December 20 noon deadline.
A candidate must be a registered voter of Dare County, reside within the seat’s district, be affiliated with a party for 90 days or more at the time of filing, and be at least 21 years old on Election Day.
A valid NC Driver License or other photo ID is required for identification purposes. Again, filing fees must be paid at the time of filing. Checks can be made out to Dare County Board of Elections.
County offices on the 2020 Primary ballot include:
- County Commissioners – 4 seats (4-year term)
- Board of Education – 4 seats (4-year term)
- Soil & Water – 1 seat (4-year term)
The Dare County Board of Elections Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m to 5:00 p.m. in the Dare County Administration Building located at 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive in Manteo.
