Location: Hatteras Library meeting room and virtually via Zoom
Program Description: The Outer Banks of North Carolina is a major rest-stop for migrating birds along the Atlantic Flyway. As seasonal changes bring cooler weather and shorter days, many of our nesting spring and summertime birds depart for warmer weather to the south. During this time, a variety of shorebirds, seabirds and passerines take advantage of the abundant resources here.
This program is geared toward beginner to intermediate birders or for bird enthusiasts who simply desire to better understand the biology of bird migration. Join our V-formation as we explore the basics behind avian migration and discover simple ways that you can help create migratory havens in your backyard as these birds take a break on their journey for forage and stop to rest during the winter.
