A Dare County Schools official confirms that a recent USDA decision will allow the district to extend its meals assistance program past the end of the calendar year all the way through the conclusion of the 2020-2021 school year.
Anyone 18 and younger is eligible for the free meals that will be distributed at three sites: Manteo Middle School (side by the bus lot); First Flight High School (in front of the school) and Cape Hatteras Secondary School (the bus lot).
Starting on Wednesday, Oct. 28, the meals, which will also be available to students enrolled in the Virtual School program, will be distributed at those sites every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
