Hatteras Storytelling Festival is topic of radio interview
The third annual Hatteras Storytelling Festival, which will be on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, at the Hatteras Village Civic Center, was the topic of the April 5 edition of the “To the Point” interview show on Radio Hatteras.
The guests for the interview were Belinda Willis, who is co-chair of the festival with Tracy Shisler, and Danny Couch, a well-known Hatteras Island historian, who has been known to spin a few yarns of his own. He’s a featured storyteller at this year’s festival.
The festival is sponsored by the Hatteras Village Civic Association and partly funded by the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau.
On the radio show Willis and Couch discuss this year’s festival, including the schedule and the guests, and the rich heritage of storytelling on Hatteras. Couch even manages to tell a few island stories to give festival-goers a preview of the event.
“To the Point,” which is hosted by Island Free Press editor Irene Nolan, airs on the island’s community radio station, FM 101.5 and FM 99.9, at 5 p.m. on the first and third Sunday of each month. It is repeated on the second and fourth Sunday. Those who don’t live on Hatteras can listen to the show on Sundays through live streaming at www.radiohatteras.org.
