Visitors and residents who love discovering the talents of Hatteras Island’s artists now have three opportunities every week to experience what the local arts scene is all about.

With the new-in-2023 Tri Villages Market, and the return of the Avon Farmers Market and Old Trent Market, the island is brimming with shopping activity Tuesdays through Thursdays until Labor Day Weekend, (and even beyond.)

Details on each of the three markets are listed below, and all markets are wide open and free for the public to explore.

Featuring vendors, artists, and craftsmen from all across the island and beyond, each of the weekly local markets is worth a visit or three before the summer comes to an end.

The Avon Farmers Market, which is sponsored by the Avon Property Owners Association, features a variety of local artists, craftsmen, regional farmers, and other homegrown entrepreneurs, with a new location that is stationed on the grounds near Vacasa and the Avon Post Office. The market has roughly 50 different vendors every week, and runs every Tuesday until September 12.

The Tri Villages Market is a brand new weekly event in 2023, and the market features dozens of local artists and makers who are sharing their wares. The event is held rain or shine, (thanks to Camp Hatteras’ indoor conference center), and the hand-crafted goodies include local artworks, apparel, handbags and accessories, jewelry, coastal-inspired gifts, and everything in between.
