There’s still time to enter Hatteras Island Meals’ annual raffle with more than $12,000 in prizes
Hatteras Island Meals (HIM), an all-volunteer organization that provides nutritious meals to elderly or homebound clients on Hatteras Island, is still offering tickets for their Annual Raffle, which is the organization’s primary fundraising event.
This year, over $12,000 in prizes were donated by more than 100 businesses on Hatteras Island. The raffle is a major fundraiser for the organization, which is not affiliated with the Meals on Wheels program due to Hatteras Island’s unique geographic location, but which partners with local restaurants to prepare nearly 9,000 meals annually.
Prizes have been divided into 13 packages and include a two-night stay in a soundfront king room at the Inn at Pamlico Sound, a half-day, inshore fishing charter for up to six people, a sunset cruise, a season pass to both the Avon and Rodanthe fishing piers, a Yeti Tundra 45 cooler, surfing and sailing lessons, gift cards to many local shops and restaurants, and more.
The drawing will be held on October 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Koru Beach Club in Avon. You don’t need to be present to win.
Volunteers will be sitting at tables outside local businesses several days a week selling tickets and taking donations. Tickets are $10.00 for one or $35.00 for four (and $35.00 feeds one person for a week.)
Visit HIM on Facebook for a schedule of locations and times. Tickets are also available on weekdays at NC 12 Realty and United Bank in Buxton, Good Winds Restaurant and North Beach Campground in Rodanthe, and Waves Coffee and Candy. Please stop by to help HIM continue to enhance the quality of life for some of the most vulnerable residents of Hatteras Island.
