Starting on Wednesday, June 19, kids of all ages will be treated to a free lunch at the St. John United Methodist Church (UMC) in Avon, courtesy of the newly launched “Grub Club.”
The Grub Club will be held every Wednesday throughout the summer at the St. John UMC, and Pastor Gina Miller explains that it’s an opportunity for kids to enjoy a free midday meal while school lunches are on seasonal hiatus.
“It’s not necessarily a hot cooked meal like they would get at school, but it will be a healthy lunch with sandwiches and fruits,” said Miller, “and it gives us a chance to fill in a gap while school is out of session.”
Grub Hub will include kid-friendly favorites like grilled cheeses, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fresh fruits and drinks. The “club” meets on Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Avon village church, and is free and wide open to the public.
“We’ll be having Grub Club every Wednesday all summer long, from June 19 until August 21,” said Miller, “and everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a free meal.”
