HATTERAS– Rev. Harmon Jones Willis Jr., 73, died on Sunday, March 7,2010 at his residence. Mr. Willis was born in Hatteras, thesonof Harmon Jones Willis Sr. and Catherine B. O’Neal Willis. He was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard. Mr. Willis was amemberof the Hatteras Assembly of God, where he served as a deacon and didhospital ministry for 25 years.
Mr.Willis is survived by his wife, Lucy Snead Willis of the residence;three sons, Tony H. Willis and wife, Michelle, Johnny M. Willis andwife, Sherry, all of Frisco, and Durwood A. Willis and wife,Joyof Hatteras; a daughter, Barbara Jackson of Frisco; two sisters, IvaPrintz and Kathy Ruter, both of Frisco; two brothers, Talmadge M.Willis and Sheldon A. Willis, both of Hatteras; eight grandchildren,Tony Willis, Jr., Angie Ballance, Dyan Gavetti, Woody Willis, BridgetteGroce, Natasha Farrow, William Willis, and Catherine Willis; tengreat-grandchildren, Andrea Willis, Bud Willis, Tayler Gavetti, KarleneBallance, Neveah Willis, Logan Willis, Jackson Harris, Kimber Ballance,Zeke Willis and Madison Groce. He was preceded in death by agrandson, Dustin Calvin Willis.
Funeralservices will be held at Hatteras Assembly of God on Wednesday, March10, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bennie A. Smith and Rev. Elmo Danielsofficiating. Burial will be in the Oden Cemetery,Hatteras. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday evening from 6until 9 p.m.
