Elbert ‘J.E.’ Buckner
BUXTON– Jason Elbert “J.E.” Buckner, our beloved husband, daddy and pap leftus to go to be with Jesus in Heaven. He died suddenly on Nov. 7, 2011.
J.E.is the son of the late Otto and Della Buckner of Mars Hill, N.C., andwas preceded in death by his brother, Harold Buckner, and sister, LenaBuckner Ray.
Prior to retiring to Hatteras Island in2001, J.E. owned and operated Blue Ridge Tractor & Equipment inAsheville, N.C., for 30 years and owned a Dairy Farm for 18 years inMars Hill and Franklin, N.C., after attending Warren Wilson College inSwannanoa, N.C. After coming to Hatteras Island, he enjoyedgardening, picture framing, and working at Hatteras Realty.
Leftbehind to cherish his loving memory is his wife and love ofhislife, Diane Buckner of Buxton, and his family — daughters: JayneBuckner, Jacque Buckner, Janet Buckner, Angie andSteveCarver, Sharon Fields, Tasha Sanford; grandchildren: Jason R. Buckner,Julia Ruff, Cade, Justin and Kaitlyn Hoogerhyde, Jessica Ruff,Clayton Ruff, Jonathan Long, Brandon Sanford; and severalgreat-grandchildren; nieces Patricia Buckner (Glen), Delores Wyatt(Larry), Cindy Edwards (Ricky), and Elaine Thomas (David) of Mars Hill.

Visitationwill be held on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Twiford’s IslandChapel in Hatteras village. Funeral will follow at 2 p.m.withPastor Roger Barnett officiating.
