MANTEO– Janet Farrow Foster, 73, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June7, 2012 at her residence, peacefully in her sleep. A Hatterasnative, Mrs. Foster was the daughter of the late Lester Farrow and thelate Salina Gaskins Farrow. She is also preceded in death by herhusband, Desmond Roderick Foster, Sr., her sister, Jean Bunting, andtwo brothers, Buster and Johnny Farrow.
Mrs.Foster faithfully attended Churches in the area, including HatterasUnited Methodist, Frisco Assembly, the Church of God of Prophecy inManteo, and others. She loved working, enjoyed staying busy, andwill be deeply missed.
Mrs.Foster is survived by her son, Desmond R. “Buddy” Foster Jr. and wifeFaye of Hatteras; her daughters, Carolyn F. Austin and husband Tate ofVirginia Beach and Linda Foster of Tarboro, N.C.; her sisters, BarbaraBunting, Carolyn Parker, Mary Curles, and her brother, DickFarrow. Also left to cherish her memory are her sevengrandchildren, Aren Austin, Lacy Schmidt, Desmond Harrison, MatthewHarrison, Heather Harrison, Marshall Foster, Krystal Foster, and herthree great-grandchildren, Sean Doyle, Zander Harrison, and KendallHarrison.
TheFuneral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 11, at the Hatteras UnitedMethodist Church with Rev. Cory Oliver and Rev. Dwight Burrusofficiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 6 – 8 p.m., alsoat the church. Burial will be in the Foster Family Cemetery inHatteras. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to theAmerican Breast Cancer Foundation, 1220 B East Joppa Rd. Suite 332,Baltimore, MD 21286 or the Hatteras United Methodist Church BereavementCommunity.
