JohnPatrick Workman, 54, of Pearce, Ariz., died Monday, March 25, 2013 onHatteras Island. He was born May 18, 1958 in Elyria, Ohio, toCharles B. and Meta O. Kirkpatrick Workman. John spent hiswinters in Pearse and worked for the National Park Service on the OuterBanks.
He loved his work with the Park Service at Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and on the beach and the Arizona desert.
Besideshis mother, John is survived by three brothers, Todd Workman and wife,Ann, of Columbia, N.C., Eric Workman and wife, Melanie, ofLouisville, Ky., and Dennis Workman of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters,Susan Workman Metz of North Ridge, Ohio, and Robin Workman ofElizabeth City, N.C. His children are Jesse Weiland of Las Vegas, Nev.,John Zuchowski and children, Madison and Hailey, of Greenfield, Ind.,and Nicole Smith Thomerson and children, Garrett, Savannah, and Brendenof Litchfield, Ohio. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews andmany other family and friends. John was preceded in death by hisfather, Charles B. Workman, daughter, Nicole Smith Thomerson, and asister-in-law, Billie Workman.
John’s family and friends will miss him very much, including his dog, Hairy.
Amemorial service will be held at Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo onFriday, March 29, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Pierceofficiating. Friends may join the family for visitation andviewing time from 1 until 3 p.m.
