PeggySpencer O’Neal, 81, of Ocracoke died Thursday July 4, 2013 in Norfolk,Va. Mrs. O’Neal was born in Ocracoke and was the daughter of thelate Robert Washington “Washie” and Minerva “Minnie” Alwater Spencerand the wife of the late David Farrow O’Neal.
She was amember of Ocracoke United Methodist Church and was formerly employedwith Pony Island Restaurant, Island Inn and North Carolina Departmentof Transportation. She also was a homemaker who raised her family.
Survivingare one daughter Sharon O’Neal Justice of Ocracoke; David Farrow O’NealJr. and Richard Vincent O’Neal both of Ocracoke; two sisters:Audrey Buskirk of Morehead City and Mary Gray of Live Oak, Fla.;grandchildren: Robert Lewis, Fletcher O’Neal, Rachel O’Neal, KatieO’Neal, Carson O’Neal, Noah O’Neal and six great-grandchildren.
Acelebration of life will be in Ocracoke United Methodist Church onSunday, July 7, at 1:30 p.m. by Rev. Laura K.W. Stern and Rev. IveyBelch. Burial will be in the Community Cemetery. Friends may join thefamily at Ocracoke United Methodist Church on Saturday from 6 until 8p.m.
