FRISCO– Martha Lee Kraus, 80, passed away in Nags Head on Tuesday, July 16,2013 after a brief illness following a stroke. Martha was born onMay 5, 1933 in Lakewood, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late HarveyHudson and Mabel Hudson.
Martha had a lifelonginterest in equestrian activities and animal rescue. An avidrider and professional horsewoman, she enjoyed competing in hunterjumper and open jump. A resident of Dare County for the past 20 years,she supported a variety of wildlife programs. Martha’s career asa pediatric and later psychiatric registered nurse was devoted tohelping others.
Martha is survived by her husband,Laurence Kraus; daughter, Melanie; son, Lawrence; and granddaughters,Jessica and Christina. She leaves behind numerous lovingrelatives and friends.
A memorial service will be heldTuesday, July 23, on the south side of Frisco Pier. In lieu offlowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Humane Societyof the United States.
