WAVES– David Lance Midgett, 79, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at MaryView Hospital in Portsmouth, Va. Mr. Midgett was born in Rodanthe tothe late Cecil and Cedric Miller Midgett. He served his country in theUnited States Coast Guard and then retired from Virginia Chemicals. Hewas a member of Fair Haven United Methodist Church where he served astrustee and a member of the RWS Civic Association and of the PrimeTimers. Mr. Midgett also enjoyed spending his free timemaintaining and beautifying the local cemeteries.
David issurvived by his wife, Beverly Richard Midgett; two daughters, DebraStanley and husband Glen of Mocksville, N.C. and Susan Keene ofPortsmouth, Va.; two sons, Tony Midgett and Connie of Elizabeth City,N.C., and Ronald Midgett and wife Rene of Waves; one brother, ChesterMidgett and wife Joyce of Virginia Beach, Va.; 10 grandchildren,Stephanie Keene, David L. Midgett II, Ronald L. Midgett Sr., TraciMidgett, Lisa Pruliman, Jessie Bracken, Glen Stanley III, TommyConnelley, Nicki Bryson and Starr Catrone; and 16 greatgreat-grandchildren, Madison, Ashlyn, Tiana, Julia, Nora, Jerick,Nicole, Ellie, Russell, Angel, Will, Ashley, Harley, Jorja, Hunter andJacob.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 24,at 11 a.m. at Fair Haven United Methodist Church with the Rev. JimBliss officiating. Burial will take place at the Midgett Cemetery. Thefamily will receive loved ones at the church on Friday, May 23, from 7 until 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may bemade to Fair Haven United Methodist Church, P.O.
