AVON– Tanya Dawn Gray Watkins, 59, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 atJohns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., and is now singing with theangels. Born in Buxton, she was the most precious daughter of HarryMiller Gray and Barbara Midgett Gray and was the beloved wife of ThomasH. Watkins, III. She was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church.
Inaddition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Watkins is survived by adaughter, Shawna Dawn Watkins Beavers and husband, Evan, of Elkton,Mich.; a son, Shane Gray Watkins and wife, Ekaterina, of Avon; and twograndchildren, Will Thomas Beavers and Kilia Marie Beavers (the prideand joy of her heart).
Shewas the granddaughter of the lateGibb and Annie Gray and Mildred Basnett Poole. She loved hersisters-in-law, Midge, Nancy, Sherry, Cathy and Jeanette as truesisters and loved and cared for her uncle, Gibb Gray and aunts,Bonnie Midgett and Shirley Midgett. Many loved ones have gone beforeher, including hermother-in-law, Jean Watkins Tulley. She also cared greatly for Bill andKathy Beavers, parents of her son-in-law, Evan, and her dearest cousin,Claudine.
There will be a private family graveside service. Amemorial service will be held at St. Johns United Methodist Church onSunday, June 8, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donation may bemade to St. Johns United Methodist Church, Avon, NC 27915.
