Larry Ray Bonney

HATTERAS– On June 7, Larry Ray Bonney lost his battle with cancer in his homeat age 62. As his wife, I was fortunate to have this wonderful man atmy side for 42 years. He was a loving man who knew no strangers. He always had a smile on his face and truly loved being on the docks inHatteras greeting everyone he saw, helping when needed or simplyengaging you in a conversation. His quick wit, laughter, and generousand kind nature were known to all he encountered. His sincere love ofpeople ensured that all friendships made were lasting ones.

Heis survived by myself, Judy Bonney; his brother, Albert Bonney, andwife Nettie, and their children, Albert and wife Lorrie, Kim and herhusband Jay; and all of their children and his extended family offriends who cared so much for him. We would like to thank all those inthe community and friends everywhere for their help and prayersthroughout this difficult time.

We will celebrate his lifewith a service at the Hatteras United Methodist Church on June 15 at 2p.m. In lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made to the Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation,P.O. Box 442, Hatteras, NC 27943. After our 20-month journey throughthe perils of cancer, we have a first-hand knowledge of its emotionaltoil and we pray that no one should have to worry about its financialtoll as well.
