CHESAPEAKE,Va. — Charlotte June Jennette, 83, of Chesapeake, Va., died onTuesday, Sept. 23, 2014 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Born inAvon, she was the daughter of the late Calvin W. and Dorcas FarrowMeekins and the widow of Joseph Edward Jennette Jr. Mrs. Jennette was ahomemaker, a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church in Avonand a graduate of Camp Lejeune High School.
Mrs.Jennette is survived by four daughters, Charlotte Jennette Dixon andhusband, John “Skip” of Manteo, Ruby Jennette Weston and husband, David“Hot Rod” of Chesapeake, Ramona Jennette Griffin of Manteo and SandyJennette Comey and husband, David of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren,Jennifer Dixon, Jed Dixon and wife, Amy, TJ Leary, Lindsey Leary,Brandon Griffin and wife, Jamie, Colby Griffin, Justin Comey and AshlinComey; four great-grandchildren, Cal Dixon, June Dixon, Madison Griffinand Mason Griffin; a sister, Mary Douglas of Beaver Dam, Va., and abrother, Rex Meekins and wife, Joann, of Manteo. Besides herparents and husband, she was preceded in death by agreat-granddaughter, Faith Griffin.
Afuneral service will be held at the Lighthouse Assembly of God inBuxton on Friday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bryan Grayofficiating. Burial will follow at the Jennette Cemetery. The familywill receive friends and relatives at Twiford Colony Chapel in Manteoon Thursday, Sept. 25, from 6 until 8 p.m.
