ELIZABETH CITY — Caleb “Pop”Ballance Stowe Sr., 84, of 105 Travis Drive died Thursday, Feb. 25,2016 at his residence. He was born July 31, 1931 in Hatteras tothe late Melvin Randolph Stowe and Nellie Odin Stowe and was thewidower of Cynthia Temple Stowe. He was a retired recruiter fromthe U. S. Amy, having served in Korea and Vietnam, and was a lifetimemember of the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post #6060.
He is survived by four daughters, Shirley Chambers (Charles) andMelissa Anderson (Tommy), all of Elizabeth City, Nellie Stowe ofManteo, and Sharlene Cahoon of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Caleb B.Stowe, Jr. (Olivia) of Providence Forge, Va.; a step-son, Jeff Lane ofHertford, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Michelle Whitehead, Emma Martin, KirkSaunders, Kristin Compher, Lily Stowe, Amber Belangia, Clifton “Buddy”Ballance, Jr., Steve Twine, Jr., Peyton Anderson, and Cynthia Lane; and18 great- grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a daughter,Elizabeth Twine.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. at TwifordMemorial Chapel with the Rev. Bryan Pease officiating. Burialwill follow in West Lawn Cemetery with full military honors rendered bythe William Clarence Jackson VFW Post #6060. The family willreceive friends Friday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home andat other times at the residence.
