FRISCO — Roy KennethHarris, 69, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at his home. Born inWaleska, Ga., he was the son of the late Frank Harris and Leila McDarisHarris. Roy was a graduate of Erwin High School in Asheville, N.C. Asergeant first class, Roy retired from the United States Army havingserved his country honorably. He also retired from civil serviceat Fort Eustis, Va., in 2013.
Roy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judith Bradley Harris; adaughter, Monica Nicholson and husband, Kelly, of Beaverdam, Va.; ason, Nathaniel Harris, of Barnardsville, N.C., and three grandchildren,Savannah, Tommy and Hunter. Also surviving are two sisters, Ora Cainand Margie Sharpe; three brothers, Joe, Gary and Ronnie Harris, as wellas numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, at Groce FuneralHome, West Asheville. Burial will follow at Western Carolina StateVeterans Cemetery at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends andrelatives prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m.
