BUXTON — William Preston Stowe,Jr., 81, died on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016 at Vidant Medical Center inGreenville. A native of Hatteras Island, he was the son of thelate William Preston Stowe, Sr. and Lillie Gaskill Stowe. A CapeHatteras High School graduate, William then served his countryhonorably with the United States Coast Guard, retiring after 20years. He continued to serve his community as a custodian at CapeHatteras Secondary School.
William is survived by his wife, Eula B. Stowe; son, David Stowe, andwife, Wendy, of Buxton; daughter, Laurell James, and husband, Mitch, ofHatteras; son, Daniel Stowe, and wife, Shellie, of Fort Worth, TX.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, David Stowe, Jr., Matthew Stowe,Eliza Stowe-Powell, Christian Stowe; Brandon Roggow, Michael Kostich,Lauren Kostich, Ethan Kostich, Asher James; Stephen Stowe, CarissaStowe and Lillien Stowe; 15 great-grandchildren, Preston, Kyndle,Kaelynn, Aaron, Reid, Lyla, Brynn, Elijah, Elliott, Eastman, Lilee,Emily, Hailee, Ivan, and Sara. Also surviving is his sister,Yvonne Austin. Along with his parents, William was preceded indeath by a sister, Eleanora McClain.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, atHeritage of Faith Family Church. A reception will be held at theFamily Life Center in Buxton immediately following service.
