FRISCO– Richard Allen Austin died unexpectedly in the early morning ofNovember 7, 2017, in Greenville, NC. He was 54. Richard was bornon August 5, 1963, in Manteo, NC. He was the son of the lateVelton Austin, Sr. and Mary Curles. He was recently predeceasedby his brother Velton Austin, Jr.
Richard was a well-known professional butcher and skilled dump truckdriver for Frisco Construction and Cape Dredging for many years. He wasalso a devoted family man. Richard will be missed and rememberedmost for his humor and his willingness to help anyone he could.
Richard leaves behind his loving wife Rebecca Austin of Frisco, histhree children, Daphnie Heath and husband Daniel, Stephanie Austin, andKyle Austin and wife, Sarah. His world was his threegrandchildren, Tabitha Heath, Elizabeth Heath and NathanielHeath. Richard also leaves behind his brothers, Alphe Austin andwife Debbie, and James Kelley, as well as many nieces, nephews, andother family members.
The family will hold a memorial service Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at2 p.m. at Cape Hatteras Baptist Church. Pastor Russ Howardwill officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully suggests that memorialdonations in his honor be sent to the Hatteras Island Methodist Men.
