BUXTON — Connie Basnett Jennette Fox, 79, of Buxton, NC suddenlypassed away on December 1, 2017. A native of Buxton, she was thedaughter of the late Raymond Basnett and Grace Williams Basnett. In addition to her parents, Connie was predeceased by her son Leon E.Jennette, Jr., her husband Albert Fox, and her brother Raymond Basnett,Jr.
Connie is survived by her two daughters, Rossie Jackson and husband,Kevin, whom she resided with; Leanne Woods and husband Lonnie;daughter-in-law Nicole Jennette; two stepdaughters Danette Arrants andhusband Frankie; Connie Averette and husband Donnie; eightgrandchildren: Kevin D. Jackson, Jr. (Ashley), Kristen Midgett(Thomas), Hunter, Anna Faith, Sophie, Taylor and Dallas Woods and LeonEdgar (Trey) Jennette, III; six great grandchildren, McCoy and PresleyMidgett, Ava and Cash Jackson, Addyson Wilson and Kinsley Woods; sevenstep-grandchildren and 6 great step-grandchildren. She is also survivedby one brother, George Wesley Basnett (Judy), and four sisters; EulaStowe, Maleta Gray, Darlene Parker, and Charlene Perkins (Paul).
Through Connie’s life, she enjoyed working as a teacher’s aide andsubstitute teacher. She was an active and loving member of UnitedMethodist Churches where she held many different positions. Conniemarried Al in 1984, and they moved to Varina, Va. In 1998, afterAl’s retirement, they moved back to Dare County and lived in SouthernShores, NC where Connie remained until Al’s death after a shortillness. Connie then returned to Buxton, where she was glad to be backon Hatteras Island with her daughters, family and many lifelongfriends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 2p.m. at the Buxton United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers,donations may be made to the Buxton United Methodist Church BuildingFund, P.O. Box 310, Hatteras, NC 27943.
