AVON — HowardMartin Meyer, 93, of Avon, NC died Monday, March 19, 2018, at PeakResources – Outer Banks. Born in New Jersey, he was the son of the lateElsie Suiss Meyer and Martin Meyer.
Howard served hiscountry honorably in the United States Army during World War II wherehe fought in the ETO. Also serving 27 years with the New York StateNational Guard, he retired as a First Sergeant of the 156th ArtilleryBattalion. Howard also retired from Central Hudson Gas and ElectricCompany in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was an avid fisherman and golfer.
Howard is survived by ason, Geoffrey Meyer (Mary); grandson, Trevor G. Meyer; stepdaughter,Marcia O’Neill (Tom); and two step-grandchildren, Emily and AndrewO’Neill.
Along with his parents,he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Maclin Meyer; hissecond wife, Jean Tennent Meyer; a grandson, Devin G. Meyer; and twosisters, Gloria Vanderhoof and Lorraine Schryver.
A private remembrance service will be held at a later date.
