KILL DEVIL HILLS — Alba Marie DiFabio DelVacchio, 97, of Kill Devil Hills, NC died Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on January 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Cecelia Filippone and Pierino DiFabio.
An avid reader, Alba enjoyed playing bridge, working on several jigsaw puzzles at once and completing crossword puzzles in ink. She was often referred to as a force to be reckoned with. A parishioner of Holy Redeemer by The Sea Catholic Church, she found joy in taking care of others.
Alba is survived by a daughter, Karen M. DelVacchio; and a son, Daniel W. DelVacchio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donato Raymond DelVacchio; a daughter, Eileen R. DelVacchio; and her three younger siblings.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, February 21, 2020 at 11:00 am at Holy Redeemer by The Sea Catholic Church by Rev. Dr. William F. Walsh, osfs. Following the Mass, a reception will be held at Basnight’s Lone Cedar Café. Bring your best Marie story!
As a breast cancer survivor, in lieu of flowers, donations in Alba’s memory may be sent to the Outer Banks Relief Foundation’s Breast Cancer Fund, 103 East 8th Street, Nags Head, NC 27959. Funds are used for ancillary expenses during breast cancer treatment.
